Anita Armstrong

With 34 years of teaching experience and more than five decades of sewing expertise, Anita brings a wealth of knowledge to every class. Her background in Education, Clothing and Textiles, and Fibre Art allows her to make a wide variety of quilting techniques approachable and fun. The classroom may have changed, but her love of teaching continues—now with plenty of fabric involved!

Barb Leger & Lisa Bernhard

Barb, a retired schoolteacher, and Lisa, whose career includes social work and quilt-shop experience, bring patience, creativity and practical knowledge to every class. Together, they make machine embroidery approachable and fun while offering plenty of guidance for those inevitable “What did my machine just do?” moments!

Barb Leger

Barb has been sewing for most of her life, but quilting officially stole her heart in 1999. After many years as a teacher, she retired in 2010—and promptly found a way to keep teaching, only now with more fabric involved! As an instructor at Lori’s Country Cottage, Barb enjoys the best of both worlds: sharing her creativity, knowledge and love of quilting with fellow stitchers.

Corinne Boychuk

After a rewarding career in Emergency Medical Services, Corinne traded emergency calls for embroidery calls—and she’s loving every minute! Her quilting adventure began nearly 30 years ago in a class at Lori’s Country Cottage, and today she happily admits to a full-blown Kimberbell addiction. When she isn’t stitching up something wonderful, Corinne enjoys relaxing and making memories with family at their cabin in Saskatchewan.

Gail Schaffler

Gail has always loved to sew and has been quilting for more than 25 years—so it’s safe to say she knows her way around a sewing machine! She has a passion for teaching and loves sharing her quilting knowledge, helpful tips and creative inspiration with others. When she isn’t quilting, Gail keeps her creative hands busy with machine embroidery, weaving and stained glass—because apparently one hobby is never enough!

Laura Catto

One visit to a quilt shop in Kamloops was all it took for Laura to catch the quilting bug! After retiring from the Federal Government, she traded paperwork for paper piecing and turned her creative passion into a new career at Lori’s Country Cottage.

Today, Laura manages the store’s website and is one of our resident machine-embroidery specialist. She also loves batiks, foundation paper piecing, bag making and anything in bright, vibrant colours—the bolder, the better!

Laurie Folliott

Laurie’s teaching adventures have taken her from junior and senior high classrooms to teaching English in Japan—and yes, she speaks fluent Japanese! After 34 years of teaching Language Arts and Japanese, she traded lesson plans for quilt plans and now loves helping quilters build their skills. For Laurie, learning something new keeps retirement interesting—especially when fabric is involved!

Laurrie Gerzanich

Laurrie was absolutely certain she would never become a quilter—then one Giant Dahlia class changed everything! What began as a wedding-gift project quickly became a passion, and she eagerly continued building her skills through classes at Earthly Goods, Lori’s Country Cottage and beyond. Eventually, Laurrie arrived for a meeting with Lori carrying a suitcase full of quilts, joined the teaching team and taught her first T-shirt quilt class. So much for never becoming a quilter!

Linda Kvill

During her career as a clinical research coordinator in Cardiology, Linda discovered how much she enjoyed teaching, guiding and helping others. After retiring, that same passion found a creative new home in the world of quilting.

Linda loves sharing her knowledge, encouraging students and helping them work through new techniques with confidence. For her, teaching quilting is the perfect combination of creativity, connection and the joy of helping others succeed.

Sandy Davis

Sandy caught the quilting bug more than 10 years ago while helping her daughter make her first quilt—and after taking Gail’s beginner course at Lori's Country Cottage, there was no turning back! With over 20 years of experience as a facilitator and trainer for the cities of Edmonton and Leduc, Sandy has always loved sharing knowledge and connecting with others. Now retired, she happily combines teaching, quilting and great company at Lori’s Country Cottage—because everything is more fun with fabric!

Sharon Dimond

Sharon is a retired kindergarten teacher who spent 34 years inspiring and encouraging more than 800 young students. Her love of teaching and creativity naturally carried over into her passion for quilting.

She began quilting in the early 1990s, when drafting patterns meant reaching for protractors, rulers, pencils, and plenty of patience! Since then, her skills and creativity have grown tremendously. Sharon brings the same patience and enthusiasm to quilting that she brought to the classroom and loves helping others build their confidence, learn new techniques, and enjoy the creative journey.
