This course is designed to expand the sewing knowledge of students who already know how to sew, by teaching the basic skills needed when learning to quilt. It is also a great course for those who haven’t quilted for many years and would like a refresher. At the first class, students are provided with a course outline, the required supplies for the course are discussed, and plenty of time is provided for shopping with the class discount. During the course, students learn rotary cutting, block construction, quilt assembly and how to properly attach borders. One class is dedicated to sewing binding samples. Learn to navigate the corners of a quilt when sewing on binding, how to join the binding ends, and both the traditional, hand sewn binding, and the 2 color, machine sewn binding. In the last class, students will trim their quilted project and sew their binding on.

All participants will be making a throw quilt that finishes approx. 53” x 73”.

Some homework is required.
