About Lori's Country Cottage
Lori was always interested in sewing, designing and fashion. Her
interests sparked the desire to have a fabric store where the latest
designer fabrics where on sale for those that liked to design and
tailor their own clothes. After working at Safeway, Lori decided to
start Lori's Fabric Cottage in Oct of 1993. With a small location on
Fir Street in Sherwood Park she stocked fabrics and sewing notions.
It wasn't long before she realized that fashion fabrics wasn't the
real interest to many of her customers.
Quilts and Quilting were becoming a buzz word around the sewing machines. Lori talked with her staff and suppliers and decided that a change in fabric direction would be the way to go. Soon the shop was filled with wonderful fabrics and color and also many interested customers that wanted to know how to..and what can I do.....and can you teach me. Classes were soon part of the calendar and filled the afternoons and evening in a small room at the back of the store.
